CHIP YOUR CAT

CHIP YOUR CAT™, a collaborative program of the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society (DAVMS), Dumb Friends League and participating members of the Metro Denver Shelter Alliance, was a year-long campaign to provide free microchips and lifetime registration for 150,000 cats in the six-county Denver metro area: Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties.

The program, sponsored by Bayer resQ™ and HomeAgain®, was started to raise awareness about the importance of microchips and in reuniting lost pets with their families,to extend the lives of our feline companions by encouraging regular veterinary care, and to enhance the image of cats as pets.

HOLA – Hispanic Outreach and Linkage Alliance

HOLA mission statement:  Sharing knowledge across cultures to improve animal health and well being in our community.

The Metro Denver Shelter Alliance is currently working on an outreach program to help educate people in the community who primarily speak Spanish about veterinary and animal welfare services. The goal of this program is to educate the Spanish-speaking community about controlling pet population through spaying and neutering pets and promoting animal wellness and responsible pet ownership (including licensing, vaccination, adequate shelter, socialization, etc).

HOLA goals:

- To improve animal care and enhance customer relations with Spanish-speaking clients/patrons through well-developed office protocols for veterinary clinics and shelters.

- To create universal pet health materials, in Spanish, for use by Metro Denver Shelter Alliance members.

- To promote animal wellness, responsible pet ownership, and spaying and neutering through improved communication with Spanish-speaking pet owners.

- To bridge language and cultural differences through knowledge sharing, to ensure safe communities and healthy families.
