Live Release Rate
The live release rate (LRR) is the percentage of animals that left an MDSA shelter or rescue organization through adoption, return to its owner, or transfer to a placement partner. In other words, it is the percentage of animals that MDSA members count among the happy stories! As a condition of membership, all MDSA members track and report their live release rates. The 2012 LRR for the Metro Denver Shelter Alliance was 85 percent (up from 72 percent in 2005) – a number that we’re working to improve, but one that is much higher than most communities. LRR statistics provide invaluable information to the MDSA so that we know where to focus our attention and resources to save even more animals.
